In the first torpedo attack by German aircraft 2 Polish destroyers are narrowly missed off the east coast of Great Britain.

Diplomatic Relations

Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and King Leopold of Belgium issue an appeal for peace offering themselves as mediators between the two sides in conflict. King George VI and President Albert Lebrun reply on Nov 12.

Germany, Planning

The German attack in the west planned for Nov 12 is postponed because of bad weather. This postponement will be repeated another 14 times until May 9, 1940.

United States, Home Front

Located at 3141 West Manchester Boulevard, Inglewood, California, the Academy Theater opened on November 7, 1939. It was originally designed to host the Academy Awards but never did. It served as a major suburban theater for the Fox West Coast Theaters chain, and showed movies until 1976, when it became a church.
