• The British steamer Meriones (7557t) is sunk by German bombing while at Haisborough Sands. The entire crew are rescued.
• The Dutch steamer Beemsterdijk (6869t) is badly damaged by a mine 12 miles off Smalls. 39 of the 42-man crew are lost. The ship subsequently sinks.

The British capture Biscia in Eritrea.
