Allied Planning

The Allies begin plans for armed intervention in the Scandinavian peninsula.

Battle of the Atlantic

  • The Belgian steamer Josephine Charlotte (3422t) sinks on a mine un the Thames Estuary with the loss of 4 of her crew. This is a result of the German minelaying operation the night of the 6th. Survivors are rescued by the British steamer Mickleton.
  • The British tanker Inverdargle (9456t) sinks on a mine laid by U-33 on 5 Novermber. The entire crew of 44 is lost.

Finland - Winter War

Day 48

Russian artillery continues to pound the Mannerheim Line at Summa. On the Ladoga Karelia with the temperature minus 40 degrees Celsius, a small Finnish detachment attacks and stops a Russian advance at the edge of Mursula village in Kitilä.
