In the US 5th Army's IV Corps area, the 34th Division gains about 3 miles toward Leghorn and to the east overruns Pastina and Hill 529. The 91st Division is committed into the center of the corps front and attacks toward the Arno with the 363rd Infantry on the left and the 362nd on the right. They move close to Chianni and the heights to the east despite strong opposition. The 88th Division on the IV Corps right flank, makes substantial progress against decreasing resistance.

In the FEC area, the 4th Mountain Division overruns San Gimignano and the commanding ground nearby as the Germans begin a withdrawal in that region. Against diminishing resistance, the Moroccan 2nd Division drives almost to Poggibonsi on the west and to the outskirts of Castellina in Chianti on the east.

In the British 8th Army's XIII Corps area, the New Zealand 2nd Division pursues the enemy northward toward Arezzo, taking the crest of Monte Castiglione Maggiore without opposition. The Corps is directed to press northwestward to Alpi di Poti with the Indian 4th Division while the Indian 10th Division protects the right flank.
