Western Front - Battle For CaenAfter the storm from Omaha Beach, it was noted that the American Mulberry had been completely destroyed, nothing but wreckage left. Because of the storm, the offensive that was to begin this day will be delayed. The British will be short 3 divisions for their part, and the Americans short of supplies. And the Germans will be stronger having had more units able to move up. During this period the Lufwaffe has been active dropping the new pressure or 'oyster' mines off the beaches of Normandy. During the next week, these mines will account for 4 warships sunk and 7 damaged as well as 4 other vessels sunk. |
