In the US 5th Army area, the IV Corps, under Gen Crittenberger, takes command of the VI Corps sector and of the 36th Division. The VI Corps, which is to participate in Operation ANVIL under the US 7th Army, has driven nearly 65 miles north of Rome with little difficulty, but there are indications that rear-guard opposition will soon increase.

In the FEC area, Montefiascone falls to the 1st Motorized Division. The Algerian 3rd Division secures Valentano.

In the British 8th Army's XIII Corps area, the South African 6th Armored Division is unable to break through an enemy delaying line below Bagnoregio. In the X Corps area, the British 6th Armored Division crosses the Galantina River, from which the enemy has departed, and takes Cantalupo.
