ITALY:
- 12th Air Force B-25s and B-26s attack many bridges and viaducts, damaging or destroying ten of them and thus adding to the troubles of the German Army forces attempting to stem the general Allied advance in central Italy.
- XII TAC A-20s and fighter-bombers attack defended towns and gun emplacements in the battle area, and motor vehicles wherever they are encountered.
US 15th AIR FORCE
AUSTRIA:
- Following an assessment of cumulative bomb damage throughout the Wiener-Neustadt aircraft-industry complex, 15th Air Force planners become convinced that one more successful attack will force the Germans and Austrians to write it off. 299 B-24s, therefore, attack five separate factories and mills around Wiener-Neustadt, of which several are demolished and one is missed altogether by misdropped bombs.
YUGOSLAVIA:
- 56 15th Air Force B-17s attack a marshalling yard at Zagreb, and P-38 and P-51 escort fighters strafe numerous targets of opportunity.

Eastern Front In the first flurry of summer activity the Germans throw in powerful attacks against Konev's forces near Jassy in Rumania.
SOUTHERN SECTOR
The Germans launch a limited counterattack around Jassy but the fighting is only local and gains little.

Italy Arce is taken by British troops of 8th Army after a stubborn battle. In the Anzio sector the US forces are nearing the important position at Velletri. In the US 5th Army sector the Germans hold their positions between Albano and Velletri in spite of repeated attacks by the numerically superior Allied forces.
Further north the Canadian I Corps continues its advance towards Frosinone.

Pacific - The US submarine Guitarro (SS-363) sinks the Japanese merchant cargo ship Shisen Maru (2201t) 60 miles southeast of Keelung, Formosa.
- The US submarine Pompon (SS-267) sinks the Japanese merchant passenger/cargo ship Shiga Maru (742t) off Murotosaki, Japan.
- The US submarine Rasher (SS-269) continues attacking a Japanese convoy in the eastern Celebes Sea sinking the gunboat Anshu Maru (2601t) that had been damaged the previous day.
