Eastern Front

Marshal Chernakhovsky, commanding the 3rd Belorussian Front, is killed near Mehlsack. Marshal Vasilevsky takes over the front for the remainder of the war. Vasilevsky incorporates the 1st Baltic Front into the 3rd Belorussian, renaming it the Samland Group.

The German offensive around Stargard sputters out after a total lack of success. There is further heavy fighting along the Bobr River. The 8th Guards attack Posen, heavy fighting following as the remnants of the garrison fight on.

The fighting in the Hron bridgehead continues as the 1st SS Panzer Corps hits the 7th Guards in the flank, forcing it back across the river. Army Group E evacuates Mostar.
