Eastern Front

The 19th Army fights its way toward Neustettin as it pushes into Pomerania.

In East Prussia since January 13 the 2nd Belorussian Front has suffered 36,000 killed and 123,000 wounded. The 3rd Belorussian Front begins a new assault against the 4th Army around Heilsberg. In Silesia the 3rd Guards Tank Army forces its way forward from the Oppeln bridgehead, threatening the southern flank of the German defenses around Breslau.

The Germans raise the new 11th SS Panzer Army upn reinforcements sent up to Army Group Vistula. SS Gen Steiner commands this weak force, establishing positions between the 2nd and 9th Armies.
