Eastern Front

NORTHERN SECTOR

Elements of the 3rd Shock Army cros the Oger River but are halted by 3 divisions of the 18th Army moving south from Estonia. Another Soviet attack at Ergli is also brought to a halt.

CENTRAL SECTOR

The Home Army is under fierce attack in Warsaw as the Germans pound the city with heavy arty and air raids. Polish counterattacks from Zoliborz fail to break the German ring.

SOUTHERN SECTOR

The 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts begin probing attacks in Rumania, the 2nd Ukrainian front attacking around Jassy and the 3rd at Tiraspol. Both fronts plan to attack on August 20. Elements of the Rumanian VI Corps pull back.
