Western Front

In the US 7th Army area, the small German garrison of Port Cros Island surrenders to the US Special Service Force. In the US VI Corps area, the 3rd Division, with the 7th Infantry and the attached French Commandos, continues to clear the left flank toward Toulon, reaching the Blue Line in the La Londe-Les Maures area. The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 30th Infantry assemble east of Brignoles, during the night of the 17th. On the right flank, the 36th Division, moving elements through Trans-en-Provence to Draguignan, also reaches the Blue Line, completing its assault phase and makes contact with the 1st ABTF near Le Muy.
