Eastern Front

NORTHERN SECTOR

The Narva Operational Group begins to attack the Tannenberg line north of Lake Peipus but is held up by the III SS Panzer Corps.

After a difficult advance the 51st Army reaches Siauliai but fails to take the town, despite bitter fighting.

CENTRAL SECTOR

Group Kryukov resumes its attack at Seidlice, pushing into the town despite fierce German resistance. As the fighting east of Warsaw intensifies the Germans activate the newly formed 9th Army on the southern wing of the 2nd Army and reconstitute 4th Army in East Prussia.

The 8th Guards Army reches the Vistula west of Lublin, having taken Deblin after a brief battle.

SOUTHERN SECTOR

The 3rd Guards Tank Army launches a strong attack upon Przemysl but becomes involved in heavy fighting with the 1st Panzer Army. The 1st Panzer has withdrawn the buld of its forces from Lvov, only rearguards remaining to hold up the Soviets. Stanislav falls to the 1st Guards Army after protracted fighting.
