Western FrontIn the US 1st Army area, the XIX Corps mops up within St Lô. The 113th Cavalry Group finds that the German withdrawal southward has been a limited one. The 35th Division is ordered to take over the entire corps sector, relieveing the 29th Division. It is to be reinforced by the 29th Division Artillery and the 113th Cavalry Group. In the British 2nd Army's Canadian II Corps, the 2nd Division takes Louvigny, on the north bank of the Orne, and Fleury and Ifs, on the southern bank. The 3rd Division clears Faubourg de Vaucelles and Cormelles. In the VIII Corps area, Cagny falls to the Guards Armored Division. The I Corps continues to fight for Troarn. |
