In the US 5th Army's IV Corps area, the 34th Division takes control of the coastal sector, releasing the 36th Division of Operation ANVIL. The 517th Parachute RCT is also withdrawn from the line. The 34th Division has under its command the 442nd RCT (Nisei), less the 1st Battalion, the 100th Battalion, the 804th Tank Destroyer Battalion, and other units. The FEC completes crossing the Orcia and pushes on toward Siena. The bttle along the Orcia has been costly to the French.

In the British 8th Army's XIII Corps area, the South African 6th Armored Division enters Chiusi. The 4th Division moves forward to positions almost abreast the 78th Division, on the XIII Corps right flank. The X Corps is reinforced by the Indian 10th Division, which arrives to replace the 6th Armored Division. The 6th Armored is to shift to the XIII Corps front a little later. The Indian 8th Division takes Monte Pilonica.
