Battle of the Atlantic
On this day a convoy (HXF TC.2 – Halifax Fast Troop Convoy # 2) of 14 ships with over 1200 soldiers aboard sets sail Britain. Halifax’s Bedford Basin is the gathering site for convoys carrying supplies to Europe. Ships filled with soldiers, arms, fuel, lumber & wheat left Halifax as often as twice a week to cross the North Atlantic, where the treacherously accurate and concealed German U-boats lay in wait.
