Convoy Assembly Area
On this day a convoy (HXF TC.2 – Halifax Fast Troop Convoy # 2) of 14 ships with over 1200 soldiers aboard sets sail Britain. Halifax’s Bedford Basin is the gathering site for convoys carrying supplies to Europe. Ships filled with soldiers, arms, fuel, lumber and wheat left Halifax as often as twice a week to cross the North Atlantic, where the treacherously accurate and concealed German U-boats lay in wait.
