Former POWs at Yokohama
Yokohama, Japan. September 5, 1945. On the evening of September 5, 1945, 231 prisoners of war (POWs) were brought to Yokohama. They were immediately taken to a delousing station where they were given food, comforts, cigarettes, candy and received medical treatment when necessary. They were then taken to Allied ships for the night. Members of the 2/18th Battalion of the 8th Division captured in Malaya were among the POWs released
