The Surrender of Singapore
Singapore surrender signed in HMS Sussex. September 4, 1945, on board the cruiser HMS Sussex, flagship of Rear Admiral C S Holland, CB, when the terms of agreement for the re-occupation of Singapore were signed. Lt-Gen Sir Phillip Chritinson, BART, MBE, CB, DSO, MC, represented Adm Mountbatten at the signing. The Japanese representatives were Gen Itagaki and Vice-Adm Fukudome.
