The viaduct at Bielefeld stands despite many attacks by Bomber Command to bring it down. This was fianlly achieved on this day when No 617 Squadon and its Lancasters equipped with 12,000-lb Tallboy and 22,000-lb Grand Slam deep penetration bombs attacked.
