Eastern FrontCENTRAL SECTORThe 11th SS Panzer Army opens a general offensive around Stargard after the previous day's probing attacks. Once again progress is limited, the greatest gains being made by the Western Group, but even their success is slender. The 1st Ukrainian Front defeats the Herman Goering Panzer Corps and takes Sagan after a brief battle. Some 2,000 men of the Posen garrison succeed in breaking out of the city and attempt to escape to the west. SOUTHERN SECTORThe last German forces still resisting in Buda surrender, Gen Pfeffer-Windenbruch being captured in the final battles. |
