Preparations are made to clear the new region. 12th ARMY GROUPUS 1st Army In the XVIII (Airborne) Corps area, CCB of the 7th Armored Division is slowly clearing the Bois de St Vith. US 3rd ArmyIn he VIII Corps area, the 87th Division occupies several towns south of St Vith. The 90th Division continues to clear the west bank of the Our River. The 358th Infantry, attacking northward across the border of Luxembourg, secures Lascheid (Belgium). In the III Corps area, the 26th Division is being withdrawn from the line, but elements clear Munshausen. In the XII Corps area, the 11th RCT of the 5th Division takes Weiler and Wahlhausen while the 5th Reconnaissance Troop clears Consthum and Holzthum. A task force based on the 317th Infantry, 80th Division, clears the high ground west of Hosingen and captures Bockholz, Neidhausen, Dorscheid, and Marburg, concluding the division's drive. In the XX Corps area, 94th Division elements drive to the edge of Sinz but are forced back by heavy casualties. 6th ARMY GROUPUS 7th Army The VI Corps makes light contact with the enemy. The 101st Airborne Division assumes control of the Moder River sector from Schweighausen to the 103rd Division's boundary. TF Linden (less the 242nd Infantry) closes in the Château Salins area and reverts to army reserve. French 1sth ArmyIn the II Corps area, the French clear the Elsenheim road and forest and head for Jebsheim. The US 3rd Division's 30th Infantry takes Holtzwihr and Wickerswihr. The 254th Infantry clears a large portion of Jebsheim. |
