The battle for Pest rages unabated as the 2nd Ukrainian Front continues to press the German and Hungarian forces back. Hungarian defenses in the northeast of the Pest district are destroyed, opening a route into the city for the Soviets. In Buda, Soviet forces are just a mile from the Danube and continue attacking along the Varosmajor Grange toward the Castle District.
