US 1st Army

In the XVIII Corps (Airborne) area, the 7th Armored Division releases the 424th RCT to the 106th Division. The 75th Division holds positions previously occupied by the 424th RCT.

The VII Corps turns over the region southwest of the line Marche-Namur to the British. The Germans abandon Rochefort.

12th ARMY GROUP
US 3rd Army

The VIII Corps opens a drive on Houffalize. The 11th Armored Division progresses slowly and at a heavy cost. The 87th Division takes Moircy but loses it in a counterattack later in the day. The 9th Armored Division is ordered to the Sedan area as SHAEF reserve.

In the III Corps area, the Germans again attempt to cut the Arlon-Bastogne highway and isolate Bastogne, reaching Lutrebois and surrounding 2 companies of the 137th Infantry, 35th Division, in Villers-la-Bonne-Eau. On the left flank of the corps, the 6th Cavalry Group is relieved by elements of the VIII Corps.

6th ARMY GROUP

Another warning of a possible German attack is issued. TF Harris is transferred from VI to the XV Corps.
