Western Europe12th ARMY GROUPUS 9th Army In the XIX Corps area, 30th Division troops finish clearing the region between the Inde and Roer Rivers. US 1st ArmyIn the VII Corps area, the factory between Mariaweiler and Dueren is cleared of the enemy. The V Corps continues its offensive but makes little progress. US 3rd ArmyIn the XX Corps area, the 90th Division continues attack preparations. A vehicular ferry is put out of action by enemy fire. The 95th Division makes little progress in expanding the Saarlautern bridgehead. In the XII Corps area, the 35th Division continues the battle for Habkirchen, crossing the 2nd Battalion and K Company of the 134th Infantry over the river to join in the attack. A bailey bridge is put across the river to the village during the night of the 14th. The 87th Division, which has been moving toward Rimling, takes that village, but finds that the resistance is stiffening. 6th ARMY GROUPUS 7th Army In the XV Corps area, elements of the 100th Division attacking Fort Schiesseck, near Bitche, are pinned down by enemy fire. In the VI Corps area, Lembach falls to the 45th Division. The 103rd Division encounters strong rear-guard opposition at Climbach. A 79th Division column drives to the outskirts of Lauterbourg. |
