Western Front

In the US 7th Army area, French Army B forces protecting the right flank of the army reconnoiters to the outskirts of Briançon. In the VI Corps area, the 45th Division takes Bourg-en-Bresse, having overcome resistance below the town. The corps then loses contact with the enemy as it continues northward toward Besançon, a strongly fortified city on the Doubs River.
