SOUTHERN FRANCE

In the US 7th Army's VI Corps area, the 3rd Division reaches the suburbs of Aix-en-Provence. The 7th Infantry, upon relief by the French in the coastal sector, joins the 3rd Division. The 45th Division's 157th Infantry crosses the Durance in the St Paul area, using a partially destroyed bridge, and takes Mirabeau and Pertuis. The 180th Infantry, advancing along the south bank of the river, takes Peyrolles and Meyrargues. TF Butler blocks the routes running south from Grenoble. The 36th Division, relieved of its defensive positions on the east flank of the corps by the 1st ABTF, moves northwestward behind TF Butler. The 1st ABTF is placed under direct command of 7th Army and made responsible for the region generally along the line from Fayence to La Napoule.

In the French Army B's II Corps area, while the Chapuis Group of the Algerian 3rd Division and elements of the 1st Armored Division continue to the west toward Marseille on the northern flank. The Chapuis Group reaches Le Camp, as the Linares Group continues to work southward through the hills overlooking Toulon, and the Bonjour Group turns to the southeast toward Toulon. The 9th Colonial and 1st Infantry Divisions isolate Hyères. A frontal assault against the eastern outskirts by the 1st Division fails.
