Western Front

In the US 1st Army area, the VII continues southward toward the Périers-St Lô road with the 9th Division on the right and the 30th on the left. The 9th Division is slowed by the enemy below Les Champs-de-Losque. The 30th deepens its salient between the Terrette and Vire Rivers beyond Le Mesnil-Durand. CCB reverts to the 3rd Armored Division from its attachment to the 30th Division.

In the XIX Corps area, the 35th Division makes little progress on the right flank of the corps. The 29th Division tries in vain to relieve the isolated 2nd Battalion, 116th Infantry, astride the Bayeux-St Lô road and repels tank-infantry counterattacks.

In the British 2nd Army area, the XXX Corps attacks with the 59th Division toward Noyers and partially envelops this objective. The 50th Division, to the west, improves its positions near Hottot.

In the XII Corps area, while the 53rd Division overruns Cahier, the 15th takes Gavrus, Bougy, and Esquay, in the region above Evrecy.
