In the US 5th Army's IV Corps area, the 135th Infantry of the 34th Division completes clearing Rosignano, but the Germans are holding out just beyond the town. After heavy concentrations of fire on Monte Vase, the Germans counterattack and recover from the 3rd Battalion, 363rd Infantry.

The FEC gets forward elements beyond Highway 68. The 4th Mountain Division takes Colle di Val d'Elsa, southwest of Poggibonsi. Offensive operations of the FEC later subside as preparations are made for its movement to the Naples area upon relief by the British XIII Corps.

In the British 8th Army's XIII Corps area, the South African 6th Armored Division retains a foothold on the slopes of Monte Lignano against strong counterattacks. In the X Corps area, the Indian 4th Division, which has been trained recently in mountain warfare, is concentrating south of Umbertide to reinforce the corps as it continues to advance on Sansepolcro.
