Italy

In the US 5th Army's IV Corps area, the 34th Division's 133rd Infantry gets forward elements to the Cecina River and clears Cecina town. The 135th Infantry maintains its small bridgehead east of Cecina despite enemy efforts to destroy it. The 168th crosses its 3rd Battalion over the Cecina on the division right flank before dawn. The 1st Armored Division makes limited progress on the right flank of the corps. CCA, on the east, is near Casola d'Elsa, where the enemy is set up for strong defense. The FEC pushes forward toward Siena.

In the British 8th Army area, the X Corps, which is virtually out of contact with the enemy, replaces the 6th Armored Division in line with the Indian 10th Division. The 9th Armored Brigade is moving up.
