Dutch New Guinea. May 3, 1944. Corp Syd Turner of Cairns, Qld, and Pvt Stan Dawson of Mossman, Qld, move through chest-high water in the swamps. There is 60,000 square miles of swamp, much of which is patrolled by Aussies.
