In the US 5th Army's II Corps area, the Germans are resisting strongly and making determined counterattacks. Elements of the 339th Infantry, 85th Division, withstand attacks on Sam Martino Hill and are bassed through by the 1st Battalion, 337th, which completes the capture of this feature. Company F, 339th, is isolated on Monte dei Pensieri during an enemy counterattack. The 338th Infantry makes another vain effort to drive up the draw between South Ridge and Santa Maria Infante. Company F is isolated and wiped out. The 350th Infantry takes Ventosa village with ease and halts to await the forward movement of the French.

In the FEC area, the 4th Moroccan Mountain Division, reinforced by a regiment of the Algerian 3rd Division, tanks, and tank destroyers, clears Castelforte on the left and assists the Moroccan 2nd Division on the right which is unable to advance. The 1st Motorized Division is committed on the right flank. The 4th Motorized Brigade assisted by some armore pushes northward toward San Andrea, but makes little progress. The Mountain Corps, consisting of the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Groups of Tabors, the Moroccan 1st Infantry of the 4th Mountain Division, and the 2nd Battalion of the Algerian Artillery Regiment, follows the Moroccan 4th Mountain Division into Castelforte.

In the British 8th Army's XIII Corps area, the Indian 8th Divsion gains a firm bridgehead on the west bank of the Rapido and puts 2 bridges across the river, but the British 4th Division is unable to expand its small bridgehead.
