Eastern Front

SOUTHERN SECTOR

Berdichev falls to the 3rd Guards Tank Army and 18th Army as the advance upon Vinnitsa continues.

Koniev's 2nd Ukrainian Front attacks north of the Kirovograd sector, striking the XLVII Panzer Corps of 8th Army. The main attack is made by the 53rd Army north of the city, supported by the 4th Guards and 52nd Armies to its right. The attack against the southern wing of the 8th Army is conducted by the 5th and 7th Guards Armies. Koniev holds the 5th Guards Tank Army in reserve to exploit any breakthrough.

Wohler's 8th Army comprises Ott's LII Corps before Krivoi Rog (1 panzer, 1 parachute and 2 infantry divisions), Vormann's XLVII Panzer Corps north of Kirovograd (3 panzer, 1 panzer grenadier and 4 infantry divisions) and the XI Corps on the northern wing near the Dniepr (1 panzer and 4 infantry divisions).

Manstein evacuates his headquarters to Proskurov.
