Eastern FrontSOUTHERN SECTORThe Central Front reaches the Dniepr at the mouth of the Pripyat River. Rybalko's 3rd Guards Tank Army crosses the Dniepr at Veliki Bukrin. Elements of the 27th Army provide support, closely followed by the 40th Army. Despite determined efforts to hold the west bank, Wohler's 8th Army is spread too thin. There is heavy fighting at Novomosskovsk at the Southwest Front pins the 1st Panzer Army into the Dnepropetrovsk bridgehead. Meanwhile, the fighting in the Kuban carries on as the German 17th Army continues its orderly evacuation. Anapa falls to the North Caucasus Front but the German lines remain intact. |
