Lancaster Ready for Take-off
The scene at Elsham Wolds during the night of March 25-26 as a Lancaster of No 103 Squadron waits for the order to take-off. This aircraft, ED724 'PM-M', was barely a month old when this photo was taken. It was written off after crash-landing at Bardney having been damaged by a German fighter over Alkmaar in Holland while returning from, coincidentally, Duisburg on the night of April 9-10.
