Eastern Front

CENTRAL SECTOR

Army Group Center informs OKH that it is unable to coordinate its actions with those of Army Group South and will therefore only be content with securing the positions of the 2nd Army.

SOUTHERN SECTOR

Kharkov falls after a night of fierce fighting with the retreating SS Panzer Corps. The 3rd Tank Army links up with the 40th Army in Dzerzhinsky Square then pushes south to attack the Germans west of Lyubotin. The 40th and 69th Armies begin a hurried redeployment northwest of Kharkov.

Hitler unfairly dismisses Lanz, replacing him with Kempf. Group Lanz, renamed Army Detachment Kempf, holds under its command SS Panzer Corps and Corps Raus. Zmiyef falls to the Soviet 6th Army.
