Bataan Death March
The Bataan Death March began on the afternoon of April 12, 1942. Some 75,000 American and Filipino soldiers - who had surrendered to Japanese forces after the fall of Bataan and Corregidor in 1942 - were forcibly marched 25-miles from Bataan to Balanga in the north, and to San Fernando, another 31-miles.
