While the 1st Division attempts to reduce the Little Pocket, elements of the 11th and 45th Regiments attack the Big Pocket from the north and shouth respectively. In the South Sector, the 3rd Battalion of the 45th Infantry, reinforced, continues to attack the Point Quinauan beachhead. The 2nd Battalion of the same regiment, reinforced, supported by a battery of the 88th Field Artillery, pushes slowly toward the mouth of the Silaiim River. |
