Eastern Front

NORTHERN SECTOR

The Germans reinforce their force in Tikhvin with a newly arrived infantry division from France. The Germans have 5 divisions in Tikhvin.

CENTRAL SECTOR

The 16th and 5th Armies, together with the 30th and 50th are under intense attack. Rokossovsky's 16th Army is hard pressed before Klin, suffering heavy casualties as the 3rd Panzer Group launches repeated attacks. The 4th Panzer Group continues its costly attacks, pushing 14 miles into the Soviet positions on the Volokolamsk-Istra axis.

The 50th Army has been badly mauled in the fighting around Tula, its left flank divisions having crumbled under the German attacks. The Stavka transfers a rifle division from the 3rd Army to reinforce the 50th. The XLVIII Panzer Corps takes Tim, propping up the increasingly exposed right flank of the 2nd Panzer Army.

SOUTHERN SECTOR

The struggle continues in and around Rostov, where Kleist is embroiled with the 56th Independent Army. Most of the city has fallen to the Germans, along with the still intact Don bridge and 10,000 prisoners. The 56th continues to launch furious counterattacks, preventing the removal of forces to protect the growing threat to the north where the 37th Army is attacking. The southerly movement of the 1st Panzer Army has opened a threatening gap between it and the 17th Army. The III Panzer Corps is forced to move the 13th and 14th Panzer Divisions to Tuslov to hold off the threat presented by the 37th Army.

SOVIET COMMAND

The Stavka issues formation orders fo the 1st Shock Army, based around the old 19th Army and the 20th and 10th Armies.
