Skua Fighter Crash
Operation WHITE is an attempt by the British to deliver 12 Hurricane fighters and 2 Skua dive bombers to reinforce besieged Malta. Because of bad weather combined with the flight distance only 5 Hurricanes and 1 Skua made it to Malta. Most of the others ran out of fuel and ditched in the sea. Skua fighter (L2987) that crash landed near Syracuse, Sicily, after the ill-fated Operation White, 17 November 1940.
