- The British steamer Empire Wind is sunk by German bombing in the North Sea. The entire crew is picked up by the British destroyer Arrow.
- The British tanker Leon Martin (1951t) sinks on a mine southeast of St Anthony Point near Falmouth with the loss of 16 crewmen.
- The Belgian steamer Anvers (4398t) from Convoy WN-35 is sunk by German bombing about 5 miles northeast of Rattray Head with the loss of 1 of her crew.
