French and Italian Representatives Meet
At Villa Olgiata, near Rome, Gen Huntziger, on behalf of the French army, and Gen Badoglio, on behalf of Italy, sign the Franco-Italian armistice. The armistice terms: demilitarized zones are to be established along the Franco-Italian border and between French and Italian territories in northern and eastern Africa; French troops are to be evacuated in 10 days; French naval and air bases in the Mediterranean are to be demilitarized within 15 days.
